The early part of November saw some heavy rain which in turn produced a lot of colour in the water and caused the river levels to rise, much to the delight of the Barbel. Dobbs Weir produced a number of good Barbel on boilies and luncheon meat to 10lb1oz, some big Bream were also being caught in Dobbs Weir up to 12lb6oz fishing the feeder with red maggot. Carp were showing themselves along the Towpath Fishery; one was caught in the Hardmead Lock area around 14lb which fell for a rubber shad lure, and one 6lb Common was tempted at Rye House with a tiny piece of bread punch. The Old Mill pool at Broxbourne has started producing large numbers of small Roach which are being caught on bread punch or single red maggot on the pole. As winter draws in the Chub along the conkers stretch at Broxbourne are starting to show, one angler fishing the wag and mag bagged a total of 12 Chub ranging from 2lb up to 6lb, meanwhile other anglers are fishing the tip with liquidized bread in the feeder and flake as hook bait which are producing Chub to 6lb3oz. Large numbers of Perch are being caught at Stanstead Abbotts falling to lures and baits. Fields Weir has produced some Pike to 8lb but the best Pike this month which fell for dead bait was caught in Dobbs Weir a magnificent 28lb fish.
