August is traditionally a quiet time on the Towpath Fishery as lots of anglers are away on their holidays but those on the bank had some success, Anglers fishing Dobbs Weir have had good results fishing for Barbel. One angler banked an impressive 4 fish in one session in the fast water of the weir ranging from 3lb up to 12lb, all on Luncheon meat.
Anglers fishing above Hertford Lock have had great success catching Dace, Rudd and Roach on the whip using red maggot.
Carp are still coming out above Hardmead Lock. Some anglers are choosing to fish dog biscuit on the surface and are having some success while others are fishing on the bottom with boilies, also with success.
Big bags of Bream are being caught between the A414 bridge at Stanstead Abbotts and the October Hole with anglers mainly fishing the feeder using Bread or Sweetcorn.
Pike and Perch are being caught along the length of the Towpath Fishery, by the lure anglers with the biggest Perch going 2lb11oz this month and the biggest Pike going 15lb just below the Stanstead Abbotts Lock.

Bulletin 30
July got of to a good start along the Towpath Fishery with reports of some excellent catches. Anglers fishing above Hertford Lock along the Dicker Mill section were rewarded with Dace, Bleak and some good Tench up to 3lb.
Dobbs Weir is still doing the business as anglers target the Chub and Bream. Chub to 8lb have been caught in the fast water this month fishing Halibut pellet on the tip. In the lower pool anglers fishing Maggot or Caster are enjoying good bags of small Roach and anglers fishing the feeder with Bread or Sweetcorn are bagging up with the Bream.
Good sport can be had just above the Carthagena Lock fishing the stick float with red Maggot as lots of small Chub and Roach are shoaling there, also some Tench have been caught.
Anglers fishing above Hardmead Lock are targeting the Carp on the surface with some success. One angler fishing dog biscuits on the surface banked 2 nice Mirror Carp with the biggest going 17lb8oz.

Bulletin 29
Once again its open season on the Towpath Fishery and a great start it has been with good numbers of anglers on the bank and large Bream, Chub and Carp being caught.

Dobbs Weir has been the place of choice for many anglers seeking the big Bream and they were not disappoint. One angler fishing the lower pool and fishing the feeder, using liquidized bread and bread flake as a hook bait banked 4 Large Bream ranging from 7lb 8oz up to 8lb 9oz. Another angler fishing the same spot a day latter also fishing the feeder but this time using sweetcorn as bait banked 3 Bream with the biggest going 9lb 8oz. Carp are also making an appearance in Dobbs Weir and anglers are catching them on Bread or Boilies.

Big Chub are laying up in the fast water in Dobbs Weir and anglers are taking advantage of this. One angler fishing the stick float and using Bread as bait banked 2 fantastic Chub weighing in at 5lb12oz and 7lb.

Large numbers of small Dace, Bleak and Roach are shoaling above Hertford Lock and would make a great days fishing using a short pole or whip, A good number of large Carp have also been seen in the area above the Lock.

Day tickets remain the same this season at £4 Adult and £2 Concession.

Bulletin 24

October was a very good month for Perch on the Towpath Fishery, Perch to 3lb 3oz were being caught at Broxbourne along the meadows section and good numbers along the Conkers mainly on Lobworms or red maggots, Lots of Perch were also being caught above Dobbs Weir Lock in front of the Café up to 2lb 4oz, Perch to 3lb 1oz were caught at Rye House on Lobworm.

Pike fishing got under way this month with good numbers of Pike being caught at Ware using the Drop shotting method with Lobworms, Fields Weir produced some good pike which fell for dead baits largest 15lb, Lots of small Pike were caught right along the fishery mainly on lures.

Large numbers of Roach, Perch and Bleak were shoaling up above Dobbs Weir Lock along with the odd good Chub and Trout with anglers making the most of it and catching some big bags mainly on the red maggot,

At the very upper limit of the fishery on the Folly Island in Hertford one lucky angler banked a stunning 13lb Barbel which fell for a piece of Luncheon meat.

Good bags of Roach have been caught along the Conkers at Broxbourne also on the picnic site at Dobbs Weir opposite the caravan and camping site mainly on Bread punch.
Bulletin 23

September has always been a good month for Roach along the Towpath Fishery. Anglers fishing above Carthagena Lock were rewarded with some good bags of Roach. One angler managed to bag over 20lb of Roach with some of them weighing in at over a pound all caught on bread punch or red Maggot.

Lots of Perch are also being caught this month on lures or red maggots with fish to over 3lb coming from Broxbourne and Rye House. Pike are also being caught from most stretches of the Navigation on lures.

Dobbs Weir produced 2 Barbel, one at 2lb and one at 12lb, both caught from the fast water on Halibut Pellet. Chub are also coming from Dobbs Weir up to 4lb.

A club match was fished along the Conkers and the Meadows sections at Broxbourne this month, 14 anglers fished and all weighed in. 1st place was 15lb 3oz, 2nd was 13lb 15oz and 3rd was 11lb 14oz. Most of the anglers managed around 7lb to 8lb of fish which consisted of Roach and Perch. Some of the fish caught included Perch to 3lb 3oz, a Common Carp at 4lb and chub to 5lb 12oz. Most anglers fished the pole using red Maggot or Worm.

July on the Towpath fishery saw lots of Roach and Perch being caught, The Conkers section at Broxbourne fished well for small Roach and Perch being caught on the float with doubble red maggot. The secction above Stanstead Abbotts Lock produced some nice Roach on the Pole.
Bream are being caught down stream of the A414 road bridge. One angler bagged 7 in a session using the Waggler and fishing red maggot, other anglers are fishing the feeder with maggot and having sucsses.
Carp are being caught between Ware and Stanstead Abbotts with the biggest a nice Common caught above Hardmead Lock weighing in at 24lb.
One lucky angler fishing for Perch had a fantastic afternoons fishing along the Stanstead Abbotts section of the Towpath Fishery banking a total of 7 fish ranging from 2lb 4oz  to 2lb 11oz all caught on lures.
The picnic area behind Dobbs Weir is producing some nice fish including Tench weighing up to 4lb also Chub to 2lb and plenty of small Roach and Gudgeon.
Please be mindful that there are bridge repairs going on at Dobbs weir but fishing is still accessible.

Bulletin 20
As another season gets under way on the Towpath Fishery plenty of anglers are on the bank and catching fish. The price of tickets remain unchanged and are available from the uthorised bailiff on the bank.
Anglers fishing Dobbs Weir have been rewarded with some nice fish which included a Tench of 3lb, plenty of Bream which were caught on the feeder using maggots and a fantastic Chub which fell for a lure and weighed in at 6lb.
Some nice Perch have been caught at Stanstead Abbotts on lures, The biggest going 2lb 14oz, also on lures Pike the biggest reported was15lb.
Lots of Chublets are to be found along the section below Dobbs Weir Lock along with the  Roach.
Large shoals of Bream have been seen along the section below the A414 road bridge heading down to October Hole.
Carp in large numbers are being seen above Hardmead Lock and can be caught of the surface this time of year.
 An inter schools match was held along the Navigation by Dobbs Weir café with around 25 anglers takeing part. All anglers weighed in and the top weight was 1lb 14oz.
